St Peter Chanel Catholic Primary School is part of St Oscar Romero Catholic Academy Trust (SORCAT). The Trust acts as the data controller for all our schools and is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office under registration number ZB085247. We process personal data fairly, lawfully and transparently in line with UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, and the Freedom of Information Act 2018.

Your rights under data protection law

Under UK GDPR, you have a number of rights in relation to your personal data. Where appropriate, these also apply on behalf of your child.

Right to be informed

To know what data we hold about you and your child, and why.

To request a copy of the personal data we hold (a Subject Access Request).

To ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information.

Right to erasure

To ask us to delete personal data where we no longer have a lawful reason to hold it.

Right to restrict processing

To ask us to pause or limit how we process personal data in certain circumstances.

To object to certain types of processing, including direct marketing.

Making a Subject Access or Freedom of Information request

If you would like a copy of the personal data we hold about you or your child, you can make a Subject Access Request in writing. All Subject Access Requests and Freedom of Information requests for any SORCAT school are directed to the Trust Data Protection Officer at dpo@OscarRomero.co.uk, or in writing to the school office. We will respond within one calendar month.

Please include enough information for us to identify you and the records you are asking for — for example, the name of the pupil, year group, and the date range or type of information you need.

Concerns or complaints

If you have any concerns about how the school or Trust is handling your personal data, please contact our Data Protection Officer first. If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's independent regulator for data protection.
