Year 6 SATs Triumph, First Holy Communion and Sports Day Ahead — Newsletter 15 May 2026

Welcome back from half-term! Our Y6s tackled Bikeability training in Bexley this week, and we look ahead to Miss McGrath's KS2 Quiz Night and our Pentecost Mass with Fr Regis.

Welcome back to SPC

This week's Gospel Celebration of the Word reminded us that God loved the world so much that he sent his only Son, Jesus, so that we might have eternal life. We reflected on ways we can look after the wonderful gift of the Earth God has made. Being great stewards means looking after our classrooms, our playgrounds, our homes and our local communities.

Don't forget next Thursday is Miss McGrath's KS2 Quiz Night, running from 3:45pm to 4:45pm.

KS2 Quiz Night — Thursday 11th June

Miss McGrath's KS2 Quiz Night runs from 3:45pm–4:45pm next Thursday. Entry costs £2.50 and must be handed in to the school office by Wednesday 10th June in a sealed envelope with your child's name and class on the front.

Wanted: new music learners

Mr McShane is looking for new music learners, as some of our Year 6s are flying our nest at the end of the half-term. If you are interested in piano and/or guitar lessons for your child, please take a look at SchoolPing and complete the attached application form. If you need a paper copy, please speak to the school office. Fees are £16 per half-hour session, paid in advance.

Year 6 Bikeability — well done everyone!

This week, 10 of our brilliant Year 6s worked with Clive from Bikeability Bexley to train themselves on bicycle safety while out and about in the community. Miss Ford even joined the sessions. The children were fantastic ambassadors for the school and now have a much greater understanding of how to stay safe on the roads — well done everyone!

Children's Commissioner — The Big Future Survey

Children and young people across England are being invited to share their views with Rachel, the Children's Commissioner. These views are then passed on to the Government to help them make life better for our children and young people. The survey link is shared on SchoolPing — please note all responses are anonymous and cannot be traced back to individual children.

Families First in Bexley — new website

Bexley have launched a brand new website, participating in the Department for Education's Best Start in Life initiative, to support Bexley families from pregnancy to age 19. It offers tailored support for different ages and stages and information about Bexley's Family Hubs. Support for parents and carers of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities is also available — it really is a one-stop shop.

Child Accident Prevention Trust — top tips

As part of Child Safety Week, the Child Accident Prevention Trust have put together a parent pack of top tips. Miss Strong has attached this to SchoolPing for your reference.
